How to Find Your Way to True Body Fitness

If you are over the age of 40 then you know this is period of your life when it is most important that you get healthy. Every year, more and more middle aged men and women are diagnosed with serious age related illnesses such as diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. Heart attacks, strokes, and other heart disease related deaths are at a shocking all time high. It is no coincidence that the increase in senior illnesses parallels the increase in the number of seniors who are overweight, sedentary, and generally unfit.

There are many reasons you may not have begun an over 40 fitness program, but one of the most common reasons is that you do not know where to start. There are too many so-called experts out there promising miracle results through “one size fits all” fitness plans. However, most people never achieve success on this type of plan.

This is why Jon Benson and Tom Venuto’s e-book Fit Over 40 is an incredibly useful guide to everyone over 40 looking to get fit. Jon and Tom have learned that everyone is unique, with different body types, fitness goals, and lifestyles. Therefore, there is no one plan that will work for everyone. Instead, they share their own personal fitness journeys, along with those of 52 other men and women your age, so that you can build a plan that will maximize your results.

Jon and Tom come from different fitness backgrounds. Tom has been a physical trainer for decades. He has written fitness and bodybuilding articles for many major industry magazines. His “Five Pillars” fitness technique has received much acclaim. This technique addresses the many facets of fitness, such as the different forms of exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle. In the book, he thoroughly explains his program so that you can use his insight on your fitness journey.

Jon, on the other hand, entered his 40s overweight and unfit. He had lived an unhealthy lifestyle for many years and was suffering from many illnesses because of it. He finally had the realization that he must save his life through fitness. His journey was filled with ups and downs, but he achieved success and is now fit for life. Sharing the details of his journey with you can help you more successfully prepare for your own.

The e-book also includes the fitness stories of 52 men and women in their 40s, 50s, 60, 70s, and later. Some are competitive athletes, but many are just ordinary individuals who realized that they could stay youthful longer if they got into shape. Each person shares their story of how they got started, where they are now, and what motivates them. You will read that they all started at different ages and levels of fitness yet all achieved the same amazing results. You will read about the unique obstacles each of them faced. Next, they each detail their exercise programs, including why they made certain choices of exercises and schedules. This is where you will see that each person’s exercise program is unique because each person’s body has different needs and renewal times. You will also learn about each diet plan and how different nutritional plans support different fitness goals. Finally, you will read about the different lifestyle choices each made and how those choices have benefited them.

The significant benefit of this section is that you learn that each person has unique fitness needs and goals. Therefore, each person needs a unique over 40 fitness plan. The way for you to create your ideal fitness plan is to study what has worked for others. Incorporate into your plan the aspects of their plans that suit your needs and goals. The more success stories you study, the more thorough your fitness over 40 plan will be.

Jon and Tom have compiled these stories to help you create the best fitness plan for you. They have done the research for you and found excellent role models to follow. If you let the examples and techniques in Fit Over 40 guide you, you will be on the right path to lifelong health, youth, and happiness.

New Way to Get Ideal Body Shape

Wii fitness games have become increasingly popular and sophisticated since the Wii was launched in 2006. With its motion sensor controllers, casual gaming platform and worldwide appeal to men and women of all ages, the Wii console has become the perfect platform for fitness video games.

The first major fitness game for the Wii was Wii Fit. Wii Fit comes bundled with the Wii Balance Board that lets you control your on-screen movements. When performing your exercises, the Balance Board feeds back every movement you make to the game, and the game tells you how well you are doing.

Even though Nintendo launched Wii Fit to show how well the Balance Board worked as a new game controller (in the same way that Wii Sports showed off how well the Wii remote controller worked), the Wii Fit game has been hugely popular, and is still number 1 in the game charts in the UK and other countries, almost 18 months after its release.

Based on the Wii Fit’s success, many other fitness games are now available on the Wii console, including the sequel to Wii Fit, called Wii Fit Plus.

The original fitness booms of the 80s and 90s were fuelled by the availability of video recorders and DVD players in every house. Celebrities and their trainers were quick to produce workout videos, and the low price of videos and DVDs made it easy for people to do these workouts at home.

The problem with these workout videos though, was that they were a one-size-fits-all solution, and users couldn’t personalize their workouts or change the exercise routines in any way. If you wanted a different workout, you had to buy a new workout video.

The huge popularity of the Wii console around the world has now sparked a new fitness boom, and the Wii’s interactive features now let users choose a variety of exercise routines in a single game.

Most Wii fitness games let users create highly personalised workout programs based on answers they input into the game. Games can also create multiple workout routines for different users, making them ideal for families to use.

And as these Wii fitness video games have become more and more popular, celebrities and their trainers have been quick to add their names to the titles too. These include Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum and Daisy Fuentes Pilates.

Each fitness game uses a slightly different format to make the games fun, engaging and challenging, and users need to decide what motivates them to exercise when choosing a fitness video game.

Wii Fit introduced the Wii Balance Board, and most of the games on the market now incorporate the Balance Board into the game for at least some of the exercises. This lets people use their Balance Boards if they have them, but doesn’t stop people from using the game if they don’t own a Wii Balance Board.

My Fitness Coach is one of the leading fitness video games on the Wii, and is one of the few that doesn’t make use of the Balance Board or remote controller during workouts. Instead the game makes use of an in-game avatar, called Maya, who acts as your personal trainer. Maya gives you exercise advice, does your workouts with you, and shouts encouragement when you feel like you’re about to collapse. This in-game personal trainer works really well to create a highly personalised experience.

EA Sports Active takes a different approach and makes use of the Wii remote controller, nunchuck controller and an exercise resistance band during workouts. Your movements with the Wii remote and nunchuck tell the game how well you’re doing your exercises and the resistance band acts as weights for people who don’t have any exercise equipment at home. EA Sports Active also includes a few exercises that can be done with the Wii Balance Board.

One thing that most of these fitness games have in common is the huge selection of exercises that come with each game. This lets all of the games mix and match exercises to give you lots of different workouts and to stop you from getting bored. Exercises usually include stretching, cardio, upper body strength, lower body strength, abdominals, and yoga.

In addition to these general fitness games, there are a few specialized games that focus on only one type of exercise program. Yoga for Wii and Daisy Fuentes Pilates are great for yoga and pilates fans who want to do only these workouts and not worry about cardio or other strength exercises.

While the first wave of fitness video games have been purely exercise games, the second generation of fitness games now include healthy eating plans to complement the great workout programs.

NewU Personal Trainer includes comprehensive exercise programs from the personal trainers at the Fitness First gym chain, together with personalized healthy menus from the team at “You Are What You Eat”. Combining exercise and healthy eating makes these perfect lifestyle games for the whole family.

Based on the success of the current fitness video games, and the inclusion of healthy eating menus that will take upcoming games to the next level, it’s hard not to recommend a Wii fitness game to anyone who is seriously thinking of starting an exercise routine.

The relatively cheap price of most games, and the wide variety of exercises in each game, makes it a very cost effective option for most people when compared to the price of a gym membership. This is highlighted even more when comparing the cost of a game to the cost of gym memberships for a whole family.

The ability to work out whenever you want (and in the comfort of your own home), the ability to create and store personal workouts and eating plans for each member of the family, and the ability to select your own personal on-screen workout environments and music, makes Wii fitness games ideal for singles, married couples and families looking to get active.

Keeping Important Fitness With

In today’s fast-paced world, people deal with stress on a daily basis. Between the pressures of work and family, life can often become quite overwhelming. Mental and physical demands may leave you feeling totally exhausted at the end of the day. As a result, keeping your fitness important among all the stresses of everyday life may not be a top priority.

Many individuals simply take fitness for granted. They have no desire or plans to work at keeping fit. Others know they should exercise regularly, yet they tend to push fitness aside indefinitely. They have good intentions of getting around to it someday, when they have more time and energy. Yet, as days and weeks pass by, fitness continues to be forgotten and left out of their daily schedules.

Importance of Fitness

Physical and mental fitness should be an important focus of living. You make time to engage in routine activities each day, such as eating and bathing. Why, then, are exercise and fitness so frequently neglected? Fitness is, after all, vital to your overall well-being and quality of life.

There are several benefits to be derived from keeping fitness important in your everyday life. What are some of those benefits?

o Fitness keeps you looking and feeling healthy.
o Fitness helps prevent depression and reduces stress.
o Regular exercise helps to prevent certain types of cancer, including colon cancer and breast cancer.
o An active, fit lifestyle can lead to clearer thinking and better concentration.
o Incorporating fitness into your lifestyle can help keep your blood pressure at healthy levels.
o Staying fit can reduce or eliminate the risks of heart disease.
o Fitness can slow down the aging process.

When you are physically active and fit, your metabolism will work more efficiently. You will be better able to ward off obesity and the health issues that stem from obesity. Your body will become firmer, stronger, leaner, and more flexible. You will see an increase in your energy level, as well. As you become more energetic, handling all the other tasks and stressors that arise each day should become easier.

Stress can have a negative impact on the health of your body and mind. Stress can cause depression. It can weaken the immune system and lead to illness or disease. According to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, “the three areas that are most important in protecting and bolstering the immune system are diet and nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction…Even more so than nutrition, exercise has the capacity to protect and even enhance the immune response. Exercise can also improve your mental wellness.”

Tips to Incorporate Exercise into Everyday Life

You seem to be on the go from the moment you wake up until you fall into bed at night. You swear that there is absolutely no way you can squeeze exercise into your everyday life.

If you feel that you truly cannot find time to get in a real workout, take every opportunity throughout the day to move about. Do some stretches at your desk. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk to school or work. Walk during your lunch hour and coffee breaks.

Keep in mind, also, that you can be active with your friends and family on your days off. Instead of watching TV or playing video games all day, spend quality time together engaging in such activities as sports, swimming, hiking, or bicycling. Have the kids help you with the gardening. Go dancing with your spouse. There are plenty of ways to be active. It’s up to you to get moving.

Personal trainer Denise Austin advises, “Make it your goal to set an example for your family, and be a role model for your kids or your friends. Knowing that people are looking up to you can be an excellent way to keep your spirits lifted too.”

How to Keep Health and Fitness Important with a Busy Schedule

Now that you realize the importance of health and fitness, it’s time to include them in your busy schedule.

Start down that path to good health and fitness by drawing up a fitness plan. If you need help, do a little research. You may get ideas on creating your plan through a reputable online source or by consulting with your physician or a fitness expert.

Set aside a certain time each day to devote to exercise. Often, getting up earlier and working out first thing in the morning works best. After all, you should be well-rested and ready to perform after a good night’s sleep. Besides, starting out your day with a good workout can actually make you feel more energetic, more optimistic, and more productive throughout the day. If, however, morning exercise sessions won’t work for you, schedule those workouts at a time that is convenient.

Choose exercises that you enjoy. If you plan to engage in physical activities that you enjoy, you will be more motivated to perform them. Make your workouts fun and avoid exercise boredom and frustration!

Choose exercises that you can do. When developing your fitness plan, be realistic about what you are capable of doing. Otherwise, you might get discouraged and quit. Start out slowly, and as your fitness improves, you’ll be better able to try more difficult workouts.

Realize that you can get efficient workouts at home! When time is of the essence, a gym membership may not make sense. Being able to exercise at home is a time-saving convenience. If you’d like the benefit of using fitness equipment, you might consider investing in a home treadmill, elliptical trainer, or home gym.

Make fitness a habit! In the beginning, you may have to force yourself to do those exercises. Don’t give up, though! Be consistent, devoted, and dedicated to improving your fitness. In time, those workouts will become a habit, and you will look forward to the daily sessions.

Remember that you are important, too! You may be the type of person who puts the wants and needs of everyone else above your own. Now is the time to remember that you, too, are important! You deserve time each day to devote to your personal fitness. Make that a priority! When you’re fit, you’re better able to handle everything else that requires your attention.
